چکیده

Abstract. We propose a population model for HIV-TB co-infection dynamics by considering treatments for HIV infection, active tuberculosis and co-infection. The HIV only and TB only models are analyzed separately, as well as full model. The basic reproduction numbers for TB (RT0 ) and HIV (RH0 ) and overall reproduction number for the system R0 = max{R T 0 ,R H 0 } are computed. The equilibria and their stability are studied. We explore the effect of early and late HIV treatment on disease induced death during the TB treatment course. Mathematical analysis of our model shows that successful disease eradication requires treatment of single disease, that is, treatment for HIV only and TB only infected individuals with addition to co-infection treatment.

Thoracic CT Scan Findings in Patients with HIV/TB co-infection before and after treatment

Background and Aim: Pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) infection is common in patients infected with the Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). In this study, we evaluated thoracic CT scan findings of HIV/TB co-infection, before and after anti-TB treatment. Materials and Methods: In this retrospective cross-sectional study, pre-and post-treatment thoracic CT scans of patients diagnosed with HIV and defin...

TB/HIV Co-Infection Care in Conflict-Affected Settings: A Mapping of Health Facilities in the Goma Area, Democratic Republic of Congo

Background HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis (TB) are major contributors to the burden of disease in sub-Saharan Africa. The two diseases have been described as a harmful synergy as they are biologically and epidemiologically linked. Control of TB/HIV co-infection is an integral and most challenging part of both national TB and national HIV control programmes, especially in contexts of instability wher...

Evaluation of clinical course and laboratory findings in HIV/HTLV-1 co-infection compare with HIV mono infection

Background: In the last 10 years, co-infection of human immunodeficiency virus/human T-cell leukemia virus-1 (HIV/HTLV-1) has emerged as a worldwide health problem. These viruses has the same route to infect human but different effects on CD4 positive T-cells. There was controversial results about the influence of co-infection HIV/HTLV-1 pathogenesis. This study compared clinical course and lab...

تعیین عوامل موثر بر علل مرگ مبتلایان به HIV/AIDS با استفاده از مدل ریسک‎های رقابتی

Background and purpose: Mortality in HIV-positive patients is due to various reasons such as progression to AIDS or co-infection with AIDS and TB or other causes. In survival analysis, competing risk methods are used if there are different reasons for death. The purpose of this article was to identify the factors affecting various causes of death using competing risk methods. Materials and met...
